Bellevue East High Singers

   Bellevue East High Singers is a select ensemble which is open by audition to sophomores, juniors and seniors. This ensemble presents several concerts per year some of which include fall, Christmas, invitational, spring, and concerts for elementary and middle schools.

   In 1995, East High Singers finished first in the open division and second in overall competition at the Worlds of Fun Festival of Choirs in Kansas City, MO. In 1997, Singers finished first in the 5A division and second in overall competition again at the Worlds of Fun Festival. In 2000, this choir finished second in the 5A division at Worlds of Fun. And in 2003 and 2004, Singers finished first in the 5A division and first in overall competition again at the Worlds of Fun Festival of Choirs in Kansas City, MO. In 1996, 1998, 2001, 2003 and 2004 they earned straight superior ratings at District Music Contest. In November 1996, East Singers was selected to perform at the Nebraska Music Educators Convention in Kearney, NE.

   In June 1997, the group completed a successful singing tour in the Washington D.C. area. In May of 2000 the choir successfully competed in the Orlando All-Star Music Festival in Orlando, Florida. They received a superior rating and received the Grand Champion award. In June of 2003, this choir traveled to New York where their performance venues included the United Nations and the breathtakingly beautiful Saint Jean Baptiste Church. This choir will travel to California in June of 2007.

   East High Singers has been a featured choir with The Omaha Symphony Chamber Orchestra four times. Singers will make their fifth appearance with the symphony in November of 2006. Members of this choir are regularly selected for state, regional and national honor choirs. East High Singers has consistently been awarded superior ratings at competitions in and out of the state of Nebraska. The choir has established a tradition of performing a wide variety of literature. East High Singers recorded their first cd in the spring of 2000, and their latest cd in the spring of 2002.
